We have been storing three cedar slabs that Dad and I milled probably ten years ago with the thought of eventually turning them into some cool furniture project(s). Well, that process has begun. It was time to get started on making a little furniture for the inside of the cabin and one of the priorities is a dining table. We cut a 16′ slab in half and took it home to have it honed and cut on Warren’s C&C machine. It’s a pretty cool operation with accuracy I could only dream about if doing it with my hand tools. We cleaned up the slabs, reversed one of them, cut a pattern on the inside edge, left the outside edges natural, added a walnut strip and then glued the package altogether as one unit. A little sanding and a lot of varnish should produce a beautiful product to serve us well in the future.
Beautiful!
