Our gutters are intended to provide drinking water by filling up two cisterns that are buried in the ground. The gutters went on at the end of May and, within two weeks, were filled with leaves. The water that ran out was brown and far from appetizing as drinking water. We had some perforated metal strips made up and this weekend I cleaned out the gutters and installed the strips with the hope of keeping the gutters clean. Time will tell but I am not optimistic that this will work. The angles present a challenge as leaves will likely continue to hang up.
