Or leg in our case. At the end of last season we had a few warning signs that all was not well with the state of the existing leg. Purchased new as the latest and greatest composite product from Volvo Penta in 2004 and with approximately 400 hrs on it, the leg was showing tragic signs of failure. After doing some research on the internet and the twitter and then discussing some sort of deal with Volvo USA, it was decided to replace the leg with a new product (the latest, latest and greatest – the mysterious OceanX). Volvo had stopped production of the old style leg only 4 years after it started due to multiple problems and they have had to deal with many claimants in North America. As everyone knows, owning a boat is seldom an investment but it is a lifestyle choice that we continue to make. At least Dana is happy that her leg looks good (very smooth) and the woodwork on the rest of her boat has been redone as well!
